Vintage Sears tone, boutique-restored presentation, and real-deal tube character.
This late-1950s Silvertone 1392 is exactly the kind of small vintage tube amp that makes you understand why players still chase old Sears, Valco, Harmony, Supro, and Silvertone amps. It has that warm, raw, touch-sensitive tube response that feels alive under your fingers — gritty when pushed, sweet when backed off, and full of character at reasonable volume.
This one has been carefully restored with the goal of keeping the vintage soul intact while making it cleaner, safer, stronger, and more reliable for actual use.
It looks gorgeous, sounds fantastic, and has that perfect “old amp in a great studio” energy.
Why This One Is Special
A lot of these old Silvertone amps survive in rough shape — tired particle board, worn-out covering, weak hardware, noisy controls, questionable old wiring, and safety issues that make them more of a project than a playable amp.
This one has already had the important work done.
It has been given a fresh, period-inspired cosmetic restoration with new tolex, new grill cloth, a new handle, new pots, and a stronger plywood front panel replacing the original particle board. The original-style charm is still there, but the cabinet is now much more solid and presentable.
Inside, it retains the good stuff: a vintage Jensen Special Design speaker and vintage tubes that have been tested and still show lots of life.
For safety, the amp has also been updated with a proper 3-prong grounded power cord and the old “death cap” has been removed.
Tone & Feel
This is not a sterile modern practice amp. It has personality.
Expect warm vintage tube compression, lively mids, natural breakup, and a beautiful old-school tremolo that adds instant movement and mood. It’s a great amp for blues, garage rock, indie, Americana, recording, and anyone who wants authentic vintage tube tone without needing to peel paint off the walls.
Perfect for:

A Note From Vinyl Vogue
We love pieces like this because they sit right in the sweet spot between usable gear and vintage object. It’s not just an amp — it’s a little piece of American guitar history with enough restoration work done to make it something you can actually enjoy.
Whether you’re putting it in a studio, pairing it with a vintage guitar, or just looking for a small tube amp with more personality than anything hanging on the wall at a big-box store, this Silvertone 1392 is a very cool find.
