This late-1950s Silvertone 1392 is exactly the kind of small vintage tube amp that makes you understand why players still chase old Sears, Valco, Harmony, Supro, and Silvertone amps. A lot of these old Silvertone amps survive in rough shape — tired particle board, worn-out covering, weak hardware, noisy controls, questionable old wiring, and safety issues that make them more of a project than a playable amp.

It has been given a fresh, period-inspired cosmetic restoration with new tolex, new grill cloth, a new handle, new pots, and a stronger plywood front panel replacing the original particle board. The original-style charm is still there, but the cabinet is now much more solid and presentable.

Inside, it retains the good stuff: a vintage Jensen Special Design speaker and vintage tubes that have been tested and still show lots of life.

For safety, the amp has also been updated with a proper 3-prong grounded power cord and the old “death cap” has been removed.
