1971 George Harrison “Bangla Desh” Store Promotional Poster – Apple Records
This is an original 1971 George Harrison “Bangla Desh” store promotional poster produced by Apple Records to promote the historic Concert for Bangladesh release.
Large promotional posters like this were distributed to record stores to advertise the album and associated campaign following the groundbreaking charity concerts organized by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar.
At nearly 29.5” x 40”, this striking poster was designed to capture attention in record store windows and retail displays.
A Historic Moment in Music History
The Concert for Bangladesh, held at Madison Square Garden in August 1971, is widely recognized as one of the first major benefit concerts in modern music history.
Organized by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, the event brought together an extraordinary lineup of artists including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, and Leon Russell. The concerts helped raise global awareness for the humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh and set the template for future benefit concerts such as Live Aid.
The live album and film released from these performances became an important milestone in George Harrison’s solo career and an enduring piece of music history.
Original Apple Records Promotional Material
This poster was produced specifically for record store promotion and was never intended for retail sale to the public. Posters like this were typically displayed for a short period and then discarded once promotional campaigns ended.
As a result, surviving examples have become increasingly difficult to find, particularly in well-preserved condition.
