The AU-717 is a legendary receiver produced by Sansui in the late 1970s during the golden era of Japanese HiFi. These receivers are well known for their clean design, incredible build quality, and warm, powerful sound. It was part of Sansui’s push toward high-end, audiophile-grade gear at a time when the company was at its peak.
What makes the AU-717 special is its dual-mono internal layout, separate power supplies for each channel, and Sansui’s patented diamond differential amplifier, all of which contribute to that signature Sansui sound.
It’s rated at 85 watts per channel at 8 ohms, but don’t let the number fool you. This amp punches way above its weight. It was built to last, with thick copper traces, real aluminum heat sinks, and hand-selected components.
This unit has been fully serviced. All electrolytic caps, and transistors/resistors known to cause issues have been replaced. The voltages across all boards are spot on and the unit has been bench tested the with an oscilloscope and signal generator, as well as inputs and speakers.
